DOIRON, ELDA MARIE - The death of Elda Doiron, wife of Laurier Doiron, of 374 Dwyer Road, Saint John West occurred in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital on 9 October, 2004 following her nine-year battle with cancer. A loving mother of four, Elda enjoyed everything in life; her family, friends, garden, and cottage. She was born in Anse-Bleue New Brunswick on August 21, 1935, the eldest daughter of the late Lina Theriault and Alexis Landry (step-father Camille Landry). Elda and Laurier fell in love young and enjoyed 49 years of marriage together. A member of the Paroisse Sainte François de Sales, Elda's kind and generous compassion extended beyond her faith through her benevolent work and contributions to such causes as Romero House, Hestia House, and countless church and school events. Beyond her joy for life, her close friends will remember her skill at Bridge, her grandchildren the games of Scrabble, and her family her propensity to sing and dance at every gathering. Mostly, her love as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend will be missed. Elda is survived by her devoted and loving husband Laurier, three daughters; Diane (Gerald) Green, Colette Doiron, Jacqueline (John) Mackie, one son; Gilles (Denise) Doiron, nine grand children; Steven, Natalie, Adèle, Nicole, Jonathan, Scott, Stéphanie, Sara, and Cindy, three sisters; Rita (Nick) Knynenburg, Bertha (Gilbert) Godin, and Isabelle (Renald) Boudreau and three brothers; Adèlbert (Gisèle) Landry, Ernest (Gisèle) Landry and Jean Maurice (Sylvia) Landry. Arrangements are in the care of LeGresley Funeral Home of Grande-Anse, NB. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm, Wednesday, 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 4 pm at Saint Simon and Saint Jude Catholic Church in Grand Anse. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Romera House, or Hestia House.
