WALLACE, ROY L. (82) - On Sunday evening, October 31, 2004, Roy Lawrence Wallace went home to be with His Lord from the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Perth-Andover, NB. He was born on September 10, 1922, the youngest son of the 12 children born to James and Waitle Wallace. Roy lived his entire life on the Tobique. Roy served his country with honor in the European Theatre of World War II, sustaining serious injury as his regiment landed on the shores of Normandy on D-Day. Roy was later employed by CP Rail until his retirement. He was a member of Canadian Legion Branch #36 and a member of the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church. Roy was known for his love for people, his large garden which he shared freely, and his willingness to lend a neighbourly hand to anyone in need. He was an avid collector of many things unique, most notably his cap collection. He endeared himself to many with his gregarious personality, animated storytelling abilities, and in his longtime portrayal of Santa Claus. Roy is predeceased by his father James; mother, Waitle; sisters, Elizabeth DeMerchant, Bessie Merritheau, Nellie King; brothers Richard, William, George, Archie (Pat), John, Louis and Howard; and beloved grandson, David. Roy is survived by his wife Marie Ethel (Frost), his loving and devoted bride of 55 years, and by his children, John of Pemberton, BC, Utah (Terry) Banks of Fredericton, Waltie Kinston of Fredericton, Rosalie (Dean) Brown of Halifax, NS, Roy (Joanne) of Winnipeg, MB, Lisa (Brad) Robinson of Lanigan, SK and Kay Hanson of Rowena, a family helper and friend who was like a daughter to Roy. He has one surviving sibling, Mary Burns, of Fort Fairfield, ME. He was also the proud "Grampy" of nine grandchildren and is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 3 at White's Funeral Home, Perth-Andover from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with the funeral being held on Thursday, November 4 at 11:00 am at the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church. Donations may be made to the local Food Bank or to the Perth-Andover Wesleyan Church Building Fund. Interment in the Larlee Creek Cemetery. Arrangements by White's Funeral home, Perth-Andover, N.B.
