ROBINSON, JOHN KELSO - John Kelso Robinson, of Halifax, NS passed Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004 at the QE II, Halifax Infirmary site. Born in Clairville, Kent Co., New Brunswick, July 17th, 1914, he was the son of the late Andrew and Edith (Kelso) Robinson. As a younger man he was employed by the Dominion Experimental Station in Fredericton, N.B. During the winter months he worked for his father in the woods. In 1940 he enlisted in the RCAF for five and a half years serving overseas with 415 and 432 bomber squadrons at Eastmoor, Yorkshire, 408 and 426 squadrons at Linton-on-Ouse; and 400, 414 and 430 fighter squadrons at Dunsford during WWII. Following WWII he attended UNB and graduated in 1950 with his BSc in Forest Engineering. He spent most of his career working for the N.B. Forest Service and retired as District Forester in 1972. After retirement he formed his own land survey company and continued working as a Land Surveyor for several more years. He and Marge spent his retirement years living at Harvey Lake, Florida and Halifax, N.S. Kelso was a member of the Canadian Institute of Forestry and a charter member of the N.B. Land Surveyors Association. Currently he is a 60 year member of the Canadian RCL Legion, Branch 4, Fredericton and a Masonic member of AAOMS, Hiram Lodge and the Luxor Shrine Temple, all in New Brunswick. Kelso was a loving husband and father and is survived by his loving wife Margery (Boyd) Robinson of 57 years, three sons, Andrew of Harvey Station, N.B.; John and wife Brenda of Lindsay, Ont; George and wife Valerie of St. George, N.B. and two daughters, Linda and husband Luc Auclair of Lower Sackville, N.S.; and Nancy and husband Harry Forbes of Halifax, N.S. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Edna Pollard of Waterloo and Edith McKellar of Chatham, Ontario; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Mildred, and brothers Kenneth and Gordon. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9PM Friday; a legion and memorial service will be held 2PM Saturday, November 27, all in the McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, Fredericton, N.B., Padre R. Miller officating. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the QE II Hospital Foundation of the Shriners.
