Helen Mary Sarson AMHERST - Helen Mary Sarson, 89, Amherst, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born July 11, 1918, in Port Howe, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Laura (MacKay) Dunbar. She had graduated from Provincial Normal College, Truro, in 1938 and had taught in several of the one -room schools in Cumberland County. She was a member of Trinity St.-Stephen United Church, Amherst and a life member of the U.C.W. While her health permitted she enjoyed sewing, baking, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and above all, her family. Surviving are her three children, Pat (Henry) Knol, River Philip; Doug (Sandra) Sarson, Port Howe; Laura Sarson (Darryl Bonhower), Moncton; three grandchildren, Pam (Mike) Roberts, Amherst; Mike Knol (Angela Doyle), Ottawa; Heather Knol, Presque Isle, Maine; sister, Jennie Dunbar, Port Howe. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years William "Bill" Sarson, in 1992; her brother, Oran Dunbar. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 1, in Mundle's Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (243-2506), where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 2. Pastor K. Ruth Gamble officiating with burial in the Rockley Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Trinity St. Stephen United Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
