Ada Velma Swetnam (RN), age 85 passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Northfield, Hants County NS, she was a daughter of the late Albro and Clementine (Miller) Miller. Ada received her RN training at Highland View Hospital, Amherst, where she nursed for many years. She was a member of Tantramar Chapter IODE and a life member of Provincial Chapter IODE. Ada was a former member of Lionettes and Lady Tweedsmuir Club and also a member of Christ Church, Amherst. Ada is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ivan; son: Peter (Debbie) Swetnam of Amherst; two daughters: Gail Gilhen of Amherst and Chrissie (Joe MacNeil) Swetnam of Dartmouth NS; one brother: Norman Miller of Shubenacadie NS; several grandchildren and one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Ada was predeceased by five sisters and one brother. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 2 p.m.. from Christ Church, Amherst with Archdeacon Glenn Eason and Rev. Cathy Simpson officiating. Reception to follow.
