NEWTON, WALTER R. - The death of Walter Richard Newton of Sussex occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on February 12, 2005. Walter was born in Saint John, NB, the only child of James and Celia Emma (Pickett) Newton. Walter is survived by his wife Leona (McLaughlin) Newton and her three sons and three daughters: Sterling (Sandra) Mercer of Petawawa, ON, Roy (Mary) Mercer of Sussex, Frank Mercer of Edmonton, Frances (Winsor) Cunningham of Belleisle Creek, Nancy (Eldon) Mabee of Keswick, ON and Sarah (Larry) Nesbitt of Scarborough, ON; six grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. At Walter's request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex, with Reverend David Barrett officiating. Interment will be at Riverbank Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Sussex Health Centre Dialysis Unit or the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
