Black, Grace Winnifred (Stewart) - Grace Winnifred (Stewart) Black, 84, of Nappan, NS, passed away late Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre, Upper Nappan, NS. Born at home in Williamsdale, Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Alvord and Katie (Purdy) Stewart. During her lifetime she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In her early years, she was employed with T. Eaton Co. in Moncton, NB and Sifto Salt in Nappan, NS. She was an avid churchgoer who gave freely of her time to church activities and functions. She was a faithful member of the Nappan-Maccan UCW, the Nappan Women's Institute, and the Nappan Church Choir. Grace loved all things outdoors, especially gardening and flowers. She enjoyed travelling and camping as well. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn (Randy) Peters, Amherst; son Allan (Linda) Black, Nappan; brother Rev. T. Alton Stewart, Medway, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Natasha (Mark) Robinson, James and Shawn Harper, Bradley and Katelyn Peters, Grace (Sandy Jesty) Black; a number of brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles; sisters, Elsie Baird and Annie Gordon; brothers, Douglas, Donald, and Hedley Stewart. Visitation will take place at Furlong~Jones Chapel (70 Church St, Amherst, 667-8777) on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 7-9 pm and Saturday, August 30, 2008 from 12-1pm followed by the funeral service at 1pm with the Rev. Marion Lloy officiating. Burial to follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford, NS.
