LEONARD MARTIN HANSORD
HANSORD, LEONARD MARTIN - The death of Leonard Martin Hansord, husband of Ruth (Drummond) Hansord occurred on Sunday, March 6, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Barker) Hansord of Thetford, England. He served with the British Army Royal Norfolk Regiment, later being transferred to the First Canadian Army, serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Leonard emigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Saint John. He was employed with M.R.A.'s Ltd., and the Corps of Commissionaires at the Dr. Roberts Hospital, the Bank of Montreal, and the Ridgewood Veterans' Wing. He was a member of St. Mark's United Church, an Officer Brother of St. John Ambulance, Past District Grand Chancellor Knight of Pythias, D.O.K.K., and Branch #69 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a former member of the Seaside Bowling Club and the Shuffleboard Group of Lancaster Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Hazel Drummond, niece Diane (George) Honeyman and their family Stephen and Julie of Birmingham, England, special friends Mrs. Joan Ellis, John and Anne Ellis, and Barbara Harman, all of Norwich and Miss Hazel Brine of Dorset. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) from where the service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
