David Gibbons Jr. AMHERST - David Gibbons Jr. age 74 of Amherst passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the QE II Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary site, Halifax N.S., surrounded by his loving family. Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late David and Margaret (Tower) Gibbons. David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan (MacDonald); sons, Eric (Elizabeth), Michael, and Darrell (Cindy) all of Amherst, Ricky (Lydia) of Blacks Harbour N.B., Nelson of Burlington Ont. and Hugh (Carol) of Hamilton ON; daughters, Patricia (Jeff) McFadden, Holly (Frank Hamilton) VanSnick and Debbie Leggatt all of Amherst, Kim (Calvin) McFadden of Sackville N.B.; sister, Joyce Keddy of Springhill NS; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Peter; brothers, William and Darrell and sisters, Margie Perry, Carol Gallant, Joan Gibbons, and Doris Smith. In fulfilling David’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906). A private graveside service will take place at a later date in the Christ Church Cemetery.
