Dorothy (Daisy) Jane Adams

JOGGINS – Dorothy (Daisy) Jane Adams, 95, of Joggins, passed away suddenly, surrounded by her family, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Leticia (Rushton) Morrell. Dorothy was a member of the United Baptist Church in River Hebert and also attended the United Church in Joggins. She was a member of the New Horizon Senior Citizen's Club, and a life member of the Mayflower Rebekah Lodge No. 21 in Joggins, the Past Nobel Grand Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Joggins Branch No. 4. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Barbara (Harold) McAloney, and Nancy (Roy) Parlee, both of Amherst; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother Roy of Port Hawkesbury. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel in 1985, three sisters, Tressie, Myrtle and Gladys and by three brothers, Henry Allen, Norman and James (Woodie). Arrangements have been entrusted with the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Furlong-Jones Chapel on Wednesday, July 2 at 2 p.m., Rev. Patti Blundell and Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Burial will follow in the River Hebert Hillside Cemetery following a time of tea and reflection. The Mayflower Rebekah Lodge No. 21 will be holding a memorial service for Daisy on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Joggins Branch No. 4 will hold its memorial service at 3 p.m. www.furlongjones.ca
