Dorothy Casey NEWINGTON, CONN Dorothy M. Casey, 79, of Newington, Conn, USA, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at home. Born in Tewksbury, MA, daughter of the late Alexander and Emma (Richard) Casey, she was raised in Amherst, N.S., Canada and graduated from Amherst Senior High School and St. Charles Commercial School. Dorothy was employed by the Sifto Salt Corp. for several years before moving to Connecticut, where she was a Newington resident for the last 35 years. She retired from the Connecticut Natural Gas Corp. after 35 years of employment and was a member of St. Mary's Church where she served on the Parish Council and different church ministries. Dorothy had many interests including bowling, skating, traveling, music and her greatest passion, dancing. She also loved spending time at her family's summer cottage in Amherst, N.S. She leaves her brother and sister-in-law Roger Casey and Jean of St. John, her niece Dorothy Floyd and her husband John and their children Andrew and Sarah all of St. John, N.B., Canada, nephews Steven Casey and his son Leif of Calgary, Peter Casey and his wife Katherine and their daughter Makena of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. There will be a service held on Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, family and friends may call prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial. The remains will then be transferred to the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS. Funeral mass will be celebrated from the St. Charles site of the Holy Family Parish, Amherst on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 10 am. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 68 Church Street, from 8:30 am Thursday, Oct. 4, until time of the departure to the church to pay their respects to Dorothy's family. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Hospital Home Care Hospice, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105, or a charity of the donor's choice.
