LAURIE - Douglas James Jr. aged 48 years of Terris Street, Springhill, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2008 at his camp in Wyvern. Born in Springhill, he was a son of Douglas Laurie, Springhill, and the Late Elaine (O'Rourke) Laurie. Doug was employed with several businesses over the years as a labourer and handyman. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his partner, Jean Robinson. Sons, Brian Michaud of Bampton, Ont. and Douglas Laurie, Ont. Granddaughter, Hailleigh Michaud. Special nephews, Tyler and Matthew of Springhill. Brothers, Joseph (Joanne) Laurie of Amherst, Richard (Brenda) Laurie of Springhill, Paul Laurie of Calgary, Peter Laurie of Bramalee, Ont., and Dennis "Jody" (Kathy) Laurie of Rosemont, Ont. Sisters, Dawn Laurie of Hamilton, Ont., Virginia (Joe) Agrileria of Waltham, Mass., and Bobbi-Jo Henderson of Orangeville, Ont. Several nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral Mass held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
