KEITH THOMPSON PUGH
PUGH, KEITH THOMPSON - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Keith Thompson Pugh, on the 7 th of June, 2005 at age 73. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on 21st of June, 1931, he was the son of J. Dawson and Nora Thompson (Upton) Pugh. He was raised in Burtt's Corner and Fredericton where he attended the Pugh's Crossing School, Smyth Street School, Fredericton High School, and the University of New Brunswick. Keith was an exceptional person. An a confirmed bachelor, living some forty years in his beloved "camp" on the banks of the St. John River in Douglas, he had an incredible circle of friends. They were from all age groups, occupations, religious beliefs and political affiliations. These friends were his family and he treasured each and every one of them. He was employed for many years with the New Brunswick Power Commission preceded by a term with the National Cash Register Co. in Saint John and Toronto. A lifelong member of the United Baptist Church, Keith was a devoted member of the Brunswick Street Baptist Church and they were an important part of his extended family. In his early years he was active in sports, participating in the finals of the Provincial Curling Championship. He was also very involved in community activities, particular with the seniors, who he enjoyed visiting, taking them on outings or entertaining with his good home cooking. In this regard he served as a long term and active member of the Board of Directors of York Manor and the York County-Boyce Market. Although in declining health for a number of years, Keith maintained an independent and active lifestyle with the assistance of his many friends and neighbors. He enjoyed getting about in his car for his occasional noon hour lunches and for his frequent visit to his many friends. He is survived by his brother Lowell and family, from Dawson Creek, B.C., locally by the families of his deceased brothers Malcolm and Hubert, a brother Douglas and a sister Carolyn and their families from the Toronto area, and of course by his many, many good friends. At Keith's request, there will be no funeral service, visitations or flowers. Interment will be in the family plot at the Burtt's Corner Cemetery at a later date.
