DeMARSH, REV. DR. ROY GRANT - 83, died peacefully in Minto, NB, July 30, 2005. Born in rural Saskatchewan, he was challenged early by polio, later by Alzheimers. Undaunted, he pursued his education (BSc, Mount Allison University; BD., Pine Hill Divinity College; MTh, University of Toronto; Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Huron College of the Anglican Church) He served God and others in a life of selfless devotion as a United Church Minister (pastorates in the Nashawaak, Stanley, Minto, NB; New Glasgow, NS) as General Secretary of the Student Christian Movement of Canada, Associate Secretary of the Board of Colleges of the United Church of Canada and President of Maritime Conference. He worked with the Moravian Church in Jamaica, and ran in a Federal By-election, representing the NDP in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edna (Ward), four children, Peter (Jean Burgess), Taymouth, NB, John, P.E.I., Barbara, Dartmouth, NS, Helen (Maury Miloff), Bangladesh, grandchildren, Luke, Alex, Stephen, Andrew, Lily, Thomas, DeMarsh; Edwin, Lila, Emilie Pavey; Ali, Zachary, Hayley Miloff; his sister Helen Block (Peter), Toronto, his brother Gordon (Delma), Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents Grace (Tuttle) and Peter DeMarsh, his sister Kathleen, his brother Kent. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at Trinity United Church, Minto, NB. Reception to follow in Church Hall. Burial and memorial service to be held later in Sackville, NB.
