George Elvin Knight AMHERST - George Elvin Knight, age 82 of Amherst passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. He was born in Grenada, West Indies, on June 16, 1925. He was a son of the late John and Sarah Knight. He obtained his degree at Mount Allison University and later was employed at MRMS Inc, until his retirement in 1986. He was a past member of Joggins volunteer fire department, River Hebert Co-op and a longtime member of Joggins Board of Trade. George was also a member of the Church of England, where he was ordained as a Deacon. George enjoyed dancing, journaling and researching various topics surrounding his community. George is survived by his brother Derek of Grenada and other family members in the West Indies; the Reid family and his extended family at the Wandlyn Inn. He was predeceased by his wife the former, Goldie Reid; brother Denis and sister, Joan. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 4 p.m. until funeral service at 5 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Brieanna Andrews officiating.
