VARNER, CLAUDE MATTHEW - 91, of Saint John, New Brunswick passed away Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Glasgow Mountain, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late George "Fred" and Leah (Bowden) Varner. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Sarah Lantz; daughters, Ruth Varner, Houston, Texas; Joanne Jondreville (Don), Cookshire, QC; Heather Varner (John Fitzgerald), Saint John; a son, Sydney (Ivy), St. George, NB; grandchildren, Jeffrey Kearns (Yang Yang), Jennifer Eldridge (Jake), Stephen Varner, Stephanie Watt-Varner (Andrew), Michael Jondreville (Andrea), Kristen Jondreville-Green (Michael), Leah Fitzgerald (Bill Duncan) and Brian Fitzgerald; a sister, Mabel Green, Middleton; brothers, Lloyd, Medley, Roy (Janet), all of Diligent River; Aubrey (Leoda), Yorke Settlement; Harry "Bub" (Alexia), Parrsboro; two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Bernice and Grace; brothers, Laurie, Edward, Stanley, two in infancy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
