Gladys Estella Smith (Sears) ANCASTER, Ont. - Gladys Estella Smith (Sears) passed away peacefully at The Meadows Long Term Care Centre in Ancaster, Ont., (formerly of 2220 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ont.) on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, in her 96th year. Born in Amherst. Member of St. Dominic's Church CWL. Daughter of the late Charles H. Peck and Marg Estella (Connors) Peck. Survived by sister Mary Creed of P.E.I. and brother Charles H. Peck of Amherst, daughter Sheila Burgess of Oakville, Ont., and sons Leonard Sears of Oakville, Ont., and Roderick Sears (Helen) of Oakville, Ont. Ten grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Garnet Sears and her second husband John Smith; sisters Violet Follett, Lillian Legacy; three brothers Gordon, Freddy and Harold. Resting at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, Ontario (905-844-3221). Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville, on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m., followed by cremation. Cremated remains to be buried in Amherst beside her first husband in the spring of 2009. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
