Gordon Simpson HALIFAX - The death of Gordon Simpson, 83, of Halifax and formerly of Amherst, occurred at the Camp Hill Veterans Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008. Born in Pictou Landing, he was a son of the late John Henry and Martha (Woodin) Simpson. A veteran of the Second World War, he served in Canada with the North Nova Scotia Highlanaders. He was a member of the Trinity St. Stephen's Men's Group and a volunteer with the Red Cross. A machinist, he worked in the Trenton Steel Works, General Motors, Oshawa and retired from Enheat, Amherst in 1990. Gordon will be sadly missed by his daughters, Nancy Simpson and Susan (Mark Everett) Simpson of Dartmouth; and a granddaughter, Lauren Everett. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Jean (Mitchell) and by all of his brothers and sisters, Cecil, Clarence, Ida, Elva, Ralph, Grace, Jack and Roy. Gordon's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Church St., Amherst from where the memorial service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m., with reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday from 2-4 p.m., at the Furlong Jones Chapel.
