Hazel Estabrooks

SACKVILLE, N.B. – The death of Hazel Estabrooks, 91, of Sackville, occurred peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008. Born in Cookville, N.B, in 1917, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Mabel (McFee) Kaye. Hazel was a dedicated wife, sharing her life with Reginald for more than 72 years. Life centered around her family and home, she cared for and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her siblings and extended family. Hazel loved to quilt and to garden. She was a member of the Midgic Baptist Church. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. A hard worker, she maintained her home on her own until only a few months ago. She will be sadly missed by sons Ronald (Lillian) of Amherst, Wylie (Laura) of Sackville; daughter Marilyn (Herman) Everill of Amherst; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Hazel Long, Sackville, Rhona Richards, Sackville, Coreen (Willie) Patterson, Sackville, Margaret Estabrooks, Middle Sackville, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald, grandson Kendyl Estabrooks, great-granddaughter Emily Brine, brothers Ernest, Chester, Otis, Courtney, Arnold and Cedric, and sisters Eunice, Olive and Elsie. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Midgic Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m., Pastor Hal Lowther officiating, followed by burial in the Midgic Cemetery.
