Hazel Lowe LOWE - The death of Hazel Lowe, widow of Ralph Lowe, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007. Born in Joggins, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Hulda (Brown) Johnston. Educated in Joggins, she graduated from teachers college in Truro in 1935. She taught school in Prospect, Murphy Cove and River Hebert, retiring after 18 years of service. She was a member of the St. Albans Anglican Church, River Hebert. She resided at White Birches for the last 3 years. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, in 1990 by a sister Bernice Edwards and brothers, Arthur and Merrill Johnston. Hazel is survived by nieces and nephews, Joyce (Lloyd) Henderson, Marilyn (William) Kohout, Stirling Edwards, Merrill (Jane) Edwards and Diane (Ted) Stephenson, Arthur Johnston and Irene Haney. Hazel's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Furlong Jones Chapel, 64 Church St on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at 1 pm, with Rev. Brieanna Andrews officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert East. www.furlongjones.ca
