Janet Benight Janet Benight - Passed peacefully Friday, January 30, 2009 at the VG Hospital in Halifax after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Halifax later moving to River Hebert. She was the daughter of Eunice and the late Percy Martin. Janet became a teacher at an early age, teaching in Indian Harbour and Timberlea area. Besides her mother, Janet leaves her husband, George (Jordie); son, Ted Richardson; daughter, Sandy (Peter) Schlay; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Wells; grandsons, Jordan and Robert Wells; Tim and Stephen Schlay; granddaughter, Samantha Richardson; brothers, David (Paulette) Martin and Tim (Elan) Martin; sisters, Ruth (Albert) Guilderson, Margaret (Rick) Bildy, Carol O'Regan, Sherrill (Roy) Pettigrew, and Sandra (Dan) McSweeney; also surviving are, sister-in-law, Carolyn Martin and brother-in-law, Lester O'Regan. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her first husband, Kenny Richardson; brother, Donald; and sister, Linda O'Regan. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Timberlea NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church, the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital or a charity of your choice through Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
