STEELE, MAURICE HAROLD - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Harold Steele at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 13, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 74. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late William and Elsie (McEwen) Steele. Maurice worked at Maritime Moving and Storage for 30 years. Maurice was an avid baseball and hockey enthusiast who enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage in Lower Cambridge where he loved watching the birds and gardening. He was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, St. Martins, and a member of the Vestry and Corporation. Maurice was a devoted father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his wife Edna (Hennessy) Steele; four daughters Debbie (Don) Jones, Norton, Cheryl Steele, Saint John, Gwenda (Don) Holland, St. Martins, Dawn (Johnny) Brookins, Saint John; three sisters Lois Johnson of Winnipeg, MB, Shirley Ford of Colorado, Margery Steele of Sussex, NB; four brothers Ron (Mavis) Steele of PEI, Ray (Sandra) Steele, Sussex, Lawrence (Rosie) Steele, NS and Bob Steele, Winnipeg, MB; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by a son John. Resting at Holy Trinity Church, St. Martins, with visitation Wednesday 7-9pm and Thursday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral will be held Friday, 2:00pm, at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Dana Dean officiating. Interment in Mosher Hill Cemetery.
