JAMES WILLIAM BURLEY
BURLEY, JAMES WILLIAM - Mr. James William Burley, 87, of 108 Talons Trail, Statesville, N.C., and formerly of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, died Friday, December 23, 2005 at his home following an illness of one year. He was born September 25, 1918 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada and had lived all his life there until relocating one and a half years ago to Statesville, N.C., with his wife. He served in the Canadian Navy during World War II, and then worked as a Longshoreman until retirement. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Burley is survived by his wife, Dorothy Connell Burley, of Statesville, one son, Allison Burley of Saint John, New Brunswick Canada, two daughters, Ronda Burley and Celeste Burley, both of Saint John, New Brunswick Canada, three step sons, Arthur (Evelyn) McPhee of Indiana, Allen (Wilma) McPhee, of Statesville, Ronnie McPhee of Caroleen, N.C., one stepdaughter, Barbara Lopez of Statesville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sisters, Elsie Dwewyer, Lorraine Comeau and Dorothy Burley (Didi), all of Saint John, New Brunswick Canada. He will be sadly missed by all of his friends and those who only had a chance meeting. He left a lasting and loving impression on everyone who met him. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. James Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie McPhee, Damien McPhee, Glenn McPhee, Shaun Seymour, Keith McPhee and Charlie Barnett. Honorary pallbearers, Mark Bailey, Lee Barrett, Jr., Bill Wright and Micheal Norris. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
