Alice Fury

Sackville, N.B. - After a lengthy struggle with cancer, Alice Fury, age 87, passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side. Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Irvine and Alma (Hicks) Tingley. Alice was a member of the Upper Point De Bute Church for many years until its closure, and since has belonged to the Main Street Baptist Church and the Midgic Baptist Church. After graduating from Sackville High School she started her family, which was her lifetime’s greatest love. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge and kept busy with many activities within the community, and her door was always open to anyone who ever needed her. Alice will be deeply missed by her eight sons, Ronald, Amherst, George (Donna), Moncton, Winston (Marion), Mount Whatley, Keith (Linda), Little Shemogue, David, Aulac, Donald, Mount Whatley, Brian (Sandra), Dieppe, Kenneth (Sunday) of Point De Bute; six daughters, Doris (Richard) Jones, Port Perry, Ont., Gail (Donald) Coates, Fenwick, N.S., Vera (Mark) Strathearn, Amherst, Heather Robichaud, Amherst, Kimberly (Terry) Bird, Aulac, Susan (Duane) Pauley, Westcock; sons-in-laws Robert Acton and Wendell Stiles; sisters-in-law, Ruth Tingley and Doris Fury; also survived by 45 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Winston; infant son Douglas; daughters Alma Acton and Marilyn Stiles; granddaughter Jessica Strathearn; grandsons, Chip and Stephen; brothers Robert, Harvey, William, and Harold Tingley; sisters-in-laws, Hattie, Phyllis and Dot Tingley, and Vera Bryden; daughter-in-law Florence. Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-1300, where visiting hours took place on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008. The funeral service took place on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at 2 p.m., Pastor Hal Lowther officiated. Burial will take place in the Point De Bute Cemetery in the spring. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
