GARFIELD DYKEMAN
DYKEMAN, GARFIELD - The death of Garfield Dykeman occurred in Kingston, ON, on January 5th, 2006 after a brief illness. He was visiting family at the time. He was 89. Born in Jemseg, NB on March 29th, 1916, he attended the lower Jemseg School until 1933. He attended the Provincial Normal School, graduating in 1935. He taught in various communities in NB for 44 years. He was the principle of the Memorial School (Nashwaaksis) from 1954 - 1968 and George Street Junior High School until his retirement in 1980. He earned his B.A. (UNB) in 1966 and his B.Ed. (UNB) in 1967. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Beach) Dykeman, three daughters, Janice Dykeman, Lynn Dykeman and Esther Smith (David), one sister, Eva Vail, two granddaughters, Kathleen and Miriam Smith and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret (Williams) Dykeman and one niece, Lena (Vail) Asselstine and son-in-law Rick Parnell Visitation will take place at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held at the Anglican Church of St. John the Evangelist in Fredericton North on Wednesday, January 11th, at 11am. The Rev. Canon William MacMullen officiating.
