CARTEN, IRVINE J. - The death of Irvine John Carten of Urney occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on January 13, 2006 at the age of 90. Born in Cedar Camp, a son of the late Timothy and Maude (Gordon) Carten. Irvine is survived by his wife Ivy (Chambers) Carten; daughter Betty Floyd (Earle) of Apohaqui; sons Paul Carten of Urney, Peter (Lori) Carten of Urney and Stephen Carten of Sussex Corner; stepdaughter Frances Harding (Eldon) of Elkfort BC; several grandchildren; sisters Isabel Pothier (Ulysse) of Saint John and Elizabeth Connolly of England; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Annie Carten, Bertha McShane, Mary Carten and Grace Monahan; brothers Mike, Warren, Russell and Joe Carten. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433- 2133) on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Sunday January 15, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Wards Creek Cemetery in the spring.
