
GERTRUDE ELEANOR BELL
BELL, GERTRUDE ELEANOR - Mrs. Gertrude Eleanor Bell of Primrose Cottage Millstream, and formerly of Main Street Sussex, passed away at Sussex Health Centre on March 25, 2006 at the age of 96. Born in Mercer Settlement, NB on June 16, 1909, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Herbert and Amelia (Coleman) Humphrey and the wife of the late Heber Bell who passed away in 1954. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Ness and her husband Bob of Sussex, her brother, Coleman Humphrey of Dartmouth, NS, two sisters; Rita Mercer of Riverbank and Laura Anderson and her husband Tom of Newtown, her brother-in-law, Milton Baxter of Apohaqui, her sister-in-law, Lila Humphrey of Norton, nine grandchildren; Beth Nelson and her husband Darrell of Pictou, NS, Russell Ness of Belleisle, Richard Ness and his wife Alice of Sussex, Heather Kenney and her husband Brad of Nanoose, Bay, Lorraine English and her husband Barry of Quispamsis, Susan Constantine and her husband Bob of Quispamsis, Bob Pearson and his wife Sally of Springfield, Alice Damon and her husband Alan of Hampton, 20 great grandchildren; Dan Nelson and his wife Nancy, Colleen Havel and her husband Peter, Rebecca Whiffen and her husband Karl, Katie MacKenzie and her husband Devon, Pat, Matthew and Morgan Ness, Brent and John Kenny, Elizabeth and Colin English, Jason, Ashley and Andrew O'Leary, Brian and Jill Constantine, Claire and Grace Pearson, Angela and Neil Damon, four great-great grandchildren; Grace and Lorne Whiffen, Jack Havel and Ethan MacKenzie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by her daughter Gladys Pearson who passed away in 1993, by three brothers; Frank, Arthur and Albert, and by her sister Alice Baxter and by her infant grandson Ross Ness. Gertrude was a life member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a Life Member of the Sussex Health Centre Auxiliary, the UCW of St. Paul's United Church and a past member of the Historical and Naturalist Society. Gertrude worked along side her husband on there farm until his death in 1954, when she became a Registered Nurses Assistant until her retirement in 1975. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), with visitation on Monday 2-4, 7-9pm. The funeral service will be from St. Paul's United Church on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
