BOWLAND, MAURICE W. - The death of Maurice Bowland of St. Martins occurred March 29, 2006 at his home in St. Martins. He lived his entire life there. Maurice was predeceased by his parents Pricilla (Henry) and Thomas Bowland, his sister Clytie (Fottler) of Florida, his wife Mary (McFarlane), a daughter Rhoda (Ellis) and two sons, Raymond and Ralph as well as three grandchildren Cynthia, Richard (Ricky) & Maurice (Scottie). He is survived by three daughters Clytie Scott of St. Martins, Leah Gallagher of Saint John and daughter Lynn Bell (Larry) of Rothesay as well as two daughters-in-law, Doreen Elliott of Saint John, Jane Black of St. Martins and his son-in-law, Hartley Ellis of Lindsay, Ontario as well as 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Maurice was a member of Holy Trinity Church in St. Martins and for many years was involved with various committees and horse groups in the area, cultivating leisure riding. He was well known in the community and quite often visible conducting rides in his vintage horse drawn carriage. He died very peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Maurice outlived many of his older friends but maintained a large circle of younger friends from whom he drew much enjoyment and pleasure during their numerous visits. Resting at his residence 2414 Main Street, St. Martins on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral will be held Monday, 2:00pm, at Holy Trinity Church, St. Martins, with Rev. Dana Dean officiating. Interment in Mosher Hill Cemetery. Memorials to Holy Trinity Church, Extra-Mural or St. Martins Concerned Citizens would be appreciated.
