Passed away peacefully at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Health Sciences Complex on July 19, 2008, George Joseph (Poppy) Lee aged 78 years. Originally of Riverhead St. Mary's Bay, longtime resident of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and recently residing in Paradise. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Nora Lee; brother Alban; sisters Bride (Jack), Gen (Alec), Edna (John), Joan; brothers-in-law Jim Butler, John and Vincent Bowen. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 47 years, Madonna (nee Bowen) and sons Dan (Mary) and Gene (Patsy) and two adoring grandchildren Erin Bronwyn and Georgia Claire; brothers-in-law Jerome (Bridgett), Ignatius (Theresa), Eugene (Lorraine), and Robert (Anna); sisters-in-law Anne Lee, Beryl (Eddy), Eileen Bowen and Lorraine Murphy; Special cousins Marion Bradbury and Richard Bowen (Cecelia). Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces and nephews whom he cherished and countless friends and acquaintances and especially all the crowd in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. Vigil service at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from Holy Family Church, St. Thomas Line. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
