SACKVILLE, N.B. - With sadness, after a brief illness, the family of Hester Mitton announces her death on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. She was 95 years old. Hester was born in Rockport, N.B. in 1911, the eldest daughter of the late John and Mildred (Ward) Delesdernier. Hester was devoted to her family, and she cherished her two sons, Leaman Ellsworth (Verna) of Cambridge Narrows and Allan Harold (Anne) of Fredericton. She took great joy in the company of her grandchildren, Gregory, Tracey, Janet and Jillian. She never forgot their birthdays nor the birthdays of her nine great grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Beulah MacDonald of Sackville, and one brother, Rupert of Rockport, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Douglas and Harold (Jack) as well as sisters, Maria (Johnson) and Mildren (Spence). She was a past member of the Britania Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star and a past member of Portland United Church in Saint John, N.B. Hester embraced the world around her. She loved to travel especially in her motor van. Rockport, and the history of its people, provided her with many interesting stories to share with friends and family. In earlier years, she exemplified a remarkable work ethic in the family businesses. Hester Mitton will be remembered as an independent woman and a devoted mother whose gentle spirit will remain through special memories. Hester's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300), from where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. Hester's family will receive friends, during a time of visitation at the funeral home from 12:30 on Sunday, until the time of the funeral. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockport Cemetery Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
