JACQUELINE (JACKIE) DIONNE McKIM
McKIM, JACQUELINE (JACKIE) DIONNE, B.A., B.Sc., P.T. (1950 - 2006) - Jackie passed away surrounded by family at the Saint John Regional Hospital, May 11, 2006 following a lengthy illness that she faced with the same courage, intelligence and curiosity that characterized her life. Jackie was the proud and loving mother of Sarah McKim of Vancouver and Andrew McKim of Fredericton and cherished wife of Matthew McKim of Rothesay. Jackie was born in Van Buren, Maine, to the late Rollande (Faucher) and late Raymond Dionne and was raised in Madawaska, Maine. Jackie valued learning and was a voracious reader. An excellent student, she attended the University of Maine-Orono and earned a psychology degree. Soon after, she met and fell in love with Matthew McKim of Saint John. She subsequently moved to Canada and completed a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from University of New Brunswick-Fredericton. Following their marriage and the birth of their daughter Sarah, Jackie and Matthew moved to Oakville, Ontario, where a second child, a son Andrew, was born. Always the eager student, Jackie returned to university, this time to the University of Toronto where she completed a Bachelor's of Science in Physiotherapy. She found this career immensely satisfying. In 1987, Jackie and her family moved back to the Maritimes to settle in Saint John. She was supervisor of Outpatient Physiotherapy at the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation where her professionalism and commitment to patients was greatly respected. Jackie loved choral music and was a member of community choirs throughout her life. She was on the executive of the Saint John Chorale. Jackie will be dearly missed by her loving children and especially by her husband and best friend, Matthew, who will always treasure their many long walks and crossword puzzles. She is survived by three sisters, Ellen Dionne of Lewiston, Maine, Margaret Dionne-Tyler of Old Town, Maine and Diana (Gerald) Morang of Gardiner, Maine; brother Roger Dionne of Portland, Maine; and five nieces and nephews. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A memorial celebration will be held at 1 pm on May 20, 2006 at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB, E2J 2G3 (506.646.2424). Cremation has taken place.
