DR. EUGENE MAYNE THOMPSON

THOMPSON, DR. EUGENE MAYNE - Dr. Eugene Mayne Thompson passed away on May 26, 2006 at the age of 75. Born in Oxford, N.S., son of the late Curry and Hortense (Mayne) Thompson. He is sadly missed by his loving wife of 51 years Rhoda (Mitchell) Thompson. Eugene is survived by his sister Ruth, Don Mills, Ont., and his brother Calvin (Harriet) of Oxford, N.S. He will be missed by his children Adrian (Deena) of Fredericton, N.B., Nancy, Barrie, Ont., and Howard (Judy) of Toronto, Ont. Jenny, Kate, Nathan and Mikayla will sadly miss their grandpa's love and adoration. Eugene grew up in Oxford, NS, graduating with a B.A. and a M.Div from Acadia University. He received a Doctor of Ministry degree at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and honorary Doctor of Divinity from Acadia University. During his forty years of work with Baptists in Canada, Dr. Thompson served as a pastor, Area Minister, and Executive Minister. He also served on a number of boards and committees, including the Board of Trustees of Acadia Divinity College. Eugene's talents and hobbies were vast in number; they encompassed such areas as: painting, music, gardening and world travel. His smiles, zest for life and talents will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John (646-2424) on Sunday, May 28, 7-9pm and on Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Grand Bay Baptist Church, (77 Woolastook Drive, Grand Bay-Westfield) on Tuesday May 30th at 2pm. Donations may be made to Grand Bay Baptist Church or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
