DELLA JOHANSEN
JOHANSEN, DELLA - At Etobicoke General Hospital, Ontario, July 1, 2006, Mrs. Della Johansen of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 86 years. She was the wife of the late Purdy Johansen. Born at Beechwood, NB in 1920, she was the only daughter of the late William Bradford and Mythe Tracy Holmes. Mrs. Johansen was a veteran of World War II. She was a Past District Commander of the Royal Canadian Legion and a Past President of Grand Falls Branch 21. She was also a Past-President of the Ladies' Auxiliary. She was very active in any project which had the purpose of benefiting veterans. The veterans' wing of the Grand Falls Manor was one of the many projects she worked hard for. She and other volunteers were sure to visit the veterans in the Manor every weekend for coffee, treats and fellowship. She is survived by her son, Joseph Johansen (partner Wendy McNabb) of Killarney, Manitoba, two grandchildren, Kevin and Jodie, three great grandsons, Curtis, Logan and Kyle, three brothers, Jasper (Gina) of Upper Kent, Ralph (friend Charlotte) of Beechwood and Joseph (Leitha) of Four Falls, sisters in law, Hilda (late George) of Brantford, Ontario and Emma (late Roy) of Edmonton, Alberta, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Moses, Basil, George and Roy. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. There will be a Royal Canadian Legion tribute service Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home. She will then be resting at St.Ansgar's Anglican Church, New Denmark on Thursday from noon until 1 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Ellen Curtis.
