W. Maxwell Thornhill

Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2008, Max Thornhill of Gander in his 88th year. Left with fond and loving memories his devoted wife Elsie of 58 years. Also left with loving memories are his brother Lloyd (Patsy) of St. John's, brother-in-law Hedley Saunders of Corner Brook, as well as 24 nieces and nephews and 41 grand-nieces and nephews, also a large circle of friends. Predeceased by his sister Florence Parsons, 1981 and his brother Percy, 1994. Max was a Flight Officer in the RAF WWII and long serving member of the Boy Scouts of Canada. He was well known to family and friends as "Uncle Max" and will be sadly missed by all. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander with visitations Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. Funeral service Wednesday, July 24, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Fraser Road United Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Max's memory may be made to the Central Northeast Health Foundation or Fraser Road United Church. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.
