SLOAN, MARVIN ALTON - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marvin Alton Sloan, husband of Barbara (Hawkins) Sloan of Beaver Harbour, NB, which occurred at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour, NB on October 30th 2006. Born in Upper Magaguadavic NB, on September 28th 1940 he was a son of the late Howard and Helena (Fraser) Sloan. A loving husband, father, papa, and brother he is survived by his wife Barbara, one daughter; Debbie Sloan and one granddaughter; Christina Sloan both of Port Elgin, one brother; Percy (June) Sloan and one sister, June (George) Calcos both of Magaguadavic NB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marvin was predeceased by six brothers; Calvin, Travis, Jerry, Elwood, Teddy and Gary. Marvin was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed collecting and selling sports cards, and was a avid Horseshoe player and former provincial champion. Marvin was always up for a good game of darts. Resting at the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church, Beaver Harbour NB, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will be held from the church on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Alcorn and Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at the Beaver Harbour Community Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the NB Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
