MCLAUGHLIN, ROGER J. (1927-2006) - passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 30, 2006 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Daniel and Pansy (Mealey) McLaughlin. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie (Carter); daughter, Margaret and son-in-law, Anthony Hardt and three special grandchildren, Andrew, Alexander and Victoria. He will also be missed by one sister, Beverly Oagles; three brothers, Roy, Murray and Donald McLaughlin all of Saint John; one sister-in-law, Marion Carter of Sackville and several nieces and nephews. Roger will be remembered as an avid baseball player and fan, excelling at the position of catcher on the East End Cubs, the Lancaster Athletics and the St Peters Seniors in the 1940's and 50's. Resting at Castle Funeral Homes, Fallsview Chapel, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John (634-1701) with visitation on Friday December 1, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Saturday, December 3, 2006 from 12 to 1:45 pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2006 from Fallsview Chapel at 2:00 pm with reception to follow at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Memorial donations in memory of Roger may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
