Sydney Maria Angela Marsh passed away peacefully Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of Yolanda Cechetto and the late John Cechetto Sr. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church. She is survived by her six children, John (Michelle MacDougall), Sharon (Rick) Preeper, Linda (Charlie) Tortola, Karen (Mike) McAloney, Gordie (Paula) and Kym; sister, Yolanda ‘Cookie’ (Walter) Marks; sister-in-law, Yolanda and brother, Johnnie (Judy) Cechetto; 15 grandchildren, Donna Marie, Tracey, Trevor, Troy, Charlie, Bobby, Tracy, Bev, Jonathan, Andrew, Jarrett, Kayla, Thomas, Jeffrey and Dylan; eight great-grandchildren; and her cat, Missy. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria was predeceased by her brother, Eric Cechetto. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will take place Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney, with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
