John William Jackson

Glace Bay It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of John William Jackson, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Catherine (Kay MacKinnon) Jackson. John was a resident of 17 George St., Glace Bay, for the last seven years. He lived and worked in Calgary in his earlier days. He will always be remembered for his sense of humour and compassion toward others. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music. He is survived by his sisters, Gloria (Eric) Adams, Calgary, Alta., Sheila (James) MacLeod, Dorchester, N.B.; brothers, Eric, Donkin, and Harry (Mary Ann), Bridgewater; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Ralph MacGillivary and John Janssens; extended family, Wally, Ruth, Ross and Katee MacAulay. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother, Norman. Visitation will be Friday, April 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald MacDonald officiating.
