COOMBS, HERBERT A. - 1934 - 2007. Herbert Allison Coombs of Saint John died on February 12, 2007 at the SJRH. He was the son of the late Albert and Flora (Lyall) Coombs. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Gilchrist), daughter Terri Ellen of Saint John, son Bradley (Tammy) of Grand Bay, daughter-in-law Susan (Allan) Coombs-Nesbitt of St. Andrews, three grandchildren Stacy and Sean of St Andrews and Jenna of Grand Bay and sisters Ethel Hooper and Beryl Marley of Saint John, Eleanor Maynes of Miramichi and Claire (Tom) Lynes of Oregon and many nieces and nephews. Herbert was predeceased by sons Bruce and Michael, brothers Cecil and James, sisters Margaret Cross, Evelyn Clark, Elizabeth Russell and Muriel McQueen. A machinist at the Saint John Iron Works for twenty years and Labatts Brewery for twenty one years until he retired in 1993. He was a people person who loved to sing, tell stories and travel. Following cremation visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 91 Leinster St (634-1712). A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, February 16, 2007 at All Saints Anglican Church on Park Ave followed by a private family internment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
