77, Florence Dec. 27, 1930 – April 18, 2008 We, the family of Gerald Francis Dawe sadly announce his passing on April 18, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late Freeman and Ethel (Murphy) Dawe. He was a member of St. Stephen’s parish, Florence. He is survived by his son, Greg (Diane), North Sydney; daughters, Geraldine Dawe McCurdy (Mary Ann), Florence, and Judy, North Sydney; six grandchildren, Greg, Nicole, Chad, Kyle, Brittany, and Brandon; brothers, Hector (Rose), Florence; John (Sally), Millville; sisters, Nellie Reashore, Florence, Irene (Nick) Smith, London, Ont.; Gertrude (Bill) MacPherson, Ontario; Muriel (Chester) LeBlanc, Port Hawkesbury; Theresa Thurbide, Alder Point; and Cavell MacNeil, Florence. Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his loving companion of 30 years, Pauline Fry. Gerald’s family would like to thank the Fry family, Mary, Joyce and Evelyn, for the kindness and support they showed them during this difficult time. At his request, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Gerald Dawe will take place Monday, April 21, at 2 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, Florence, with Fr. Vern Boutilier officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Gerald will be sadly missed and forever loved.
