ANTHONY (TONY) MAILLARD
MAILLARD, ANTHONY (TONY) - Anthony (Tony) Francis Maillard of Moncton NB (formerly of Oromocto and Fredericton) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Moncton Hospital on April 3, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in London England (November 3, 1949), he was the son of Elizabeth Barratt and the late Paul Earnest Maillard, and is predeceased by stepmother Marie Maillard and paternal Grandparents Earnest Francis Maillard and Kathleen Maillard (Shier). He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Diane Marie Maillard, sons Mark Anthony (and wife Lisa) and Matthew Laurent Maillard, brother Philip Maillard (Ottawa), sisters Penny Shadlinger (London, Ontario) and Monique Maillard (Toronto), Aunt Fernand Sharkey (Saint John) and a large extended family. Tony was the special fun-loving Grandpa to Jenna Anne-Marie, Erica Elizabeth, Natalie Rose and Courtney Ann. Tony was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (R.E.M.E.) prior to graduating from Moncton Technical College in 1975 with a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. Upon completing his education Tony worked with both Eastern Designers and UNB before joining Neill and Gunter with whom he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 2006. Following his retirement he continued to work for Neill and Gunter on a casual basis. Tony was an active member of the Church communities at both St. Vincent de Paul and St. Dunstan's serving as lector, Eucharistic minister, assistant catechist (R.C.I.A.), and World Youth Day leader 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors and was also a member of the YMCA. After a recent move to Moncton he was a member of St. Bernard's Parish. He was a man of great faith and loved by all. Resting at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street in Fredericton (458-9170) with visiting on Saturday April 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Easter Sunday April 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The family welcomes you to a celebration Mass that will be held at St. Dunstan's church Monday April 9th at 12:00 noon with Rev. Gerry White as celebrant and Rev. Maurice Swift as con-celebrant. A reception will take place immediately following the Mass in the Monsignor Boyd Family Center. Interment will take place at a later date. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Brunswick/Fredericton Right to Life or the Oncology Unit at the Moncton Hospital. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff, physicians, nurses and pastoral care on the Oncology Unit and Med/Surg ICU at the Moncton Hospital, various parts of Canada, including Ottawa.
