93, Sydney Mines God has taken Mom to her heavenly home. She passed away at the Northside Guest Home on Thursday, May 1, 2008. She brought her family up on Atlantic Avenue, Sydney Mines, where she shared many happy memories with special neighbours and friends. Johanna was the daughter of Annie (Matheson) and John Carmichael of Indian Brook and Black Rock, Victoria County, C.B., and is survived by her daughter, Ethel (Ted) Nicholson, Kentville, N.S.; her son, David (Betty Ann) MacIntyre, Sydney Mines, N.S.; and her daughter-in-law, Judy MacIntyre, Coxheath, N.S. Hanna also leaves to mourn her loss precious grandchildren, Brent (Jennifer) Nicholson, Cornwall, P.E.I., Angela (Loc) Nicholson Do, Ho Chi Minn City, Vietnam, Shelley MacIntyre, Jackson’s Point, Ont., and Nancy (Mike) Thomas, Winslow, P.E.I.; and her great-grandchildren, J.T. (John), Matthew, Lily and Tyler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including special niece, Mildred MacLean, Edwardsville, C.B. She was predeceased by her husband, John (1979) and her youngest son, Earl (1997), sisters, Sadie, Mary and Jessie and brothers, Kenny and Archie. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, a loyal member of the Ladies Aid and the Women’s Missionary Society. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school for many years as well as being a volunteer for the hospital and other organizations. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 4 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Rick Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Fellowship, St. Andrews Presbyterian or a charity of your choice.
