GILCHRIST, J. DOUGLAS (DOUG) - the death of J. Douglas (Doug) Gilchrist of Waterloo St., companion of Barbara Sinderly, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, August 24, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Saint John, a son of the late John and Hazel (Murphy) Gilchrist. Doug drove cab for Diamond Taxi, retiring fourteen years ago and was a member of the Buffalo Club for twenty years. Doug was an avid camper and fisherman. He will be sadly missed by his companion, Barbara; four stepsons, Michael (Barbara) Sinderly of Ontario, Christopher (Tammy) Sinderly of Saint John, Tracey (Andrea) Scott of Saint John, and Darrin (Nina) Scott of Ontario; three brothers, William (Billy) of Saint John, Ralph of Saint John, and Arthur of Quebec; one sister, Barbara Gilchrist; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by a brother, Ronald. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, from where the service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00pm with Rev. James Fudge officiating. Visiting on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, Donations to the Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family. www.fitzpatrickfh.com
