MATHESON, FLORENCE ALMA - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 7, 2007, Mrs. Florence Alma (Leavitt) Matheson, wife of Ernest A. Matheson Sr. of Back Bay NB. Born in Back Bay on October 26, 1919, she was a daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Sarah (Leslie) Leavitt. A loving wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ernest; two daughters, Gail Gaudett and Sarah (John) Handspiker both of Back Bay; one son, Ernest Jr. (Belinda) Matheson of Halifax NS; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as several foster grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Besides her parents she was predeceased by four brothers, Feston, Chester, Arthur and Roscoe; and three sisters, Addie Doucette, Emma Hooper and Clara Andrews. Florence was the last member of her immediate family. In early years, Florence worked for Connor's Bros. as a sardine packer. She was a member of the Seaview Full Gospel Church in Back Bay. Resting at the Seaview Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB from where the service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm with interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
