Byron 'Barnie' Grant MacLeod

1943-2008 Truro Byron ‘Barnie’ Grant MacLeod, Truro, died on May 3, 2008, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Big Harbour, Victoria County, Byron lived in Truro for the past 25 years. He was the second eldest son of the late Roddie and Marjorie (Logan) MacLeod. Byron was a quiet man, never wanting to be the centre of attention, he enjoyed a good laugh, drawing, horse racing and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Throughout his struggle with cancer, Byron took one day at time and never complained. His strength, resilience and easygoing manner were traits his family admired greatly. Byron will be missed by his daughter, Dawn Marie (Mick) and two grandchildren, Oliver and Zachery, Sydney, Australia. Siblings, Leonard (Katherine), Whycocomagh, Lev (Janet), Truro, Helen (Bill), Aberdeen, Robert (Beatrice), Whycocomagh, and Velda, Ottawa. Nephews, Glen, Jeffery and Travis and nieces, Phyllis, Patricia, Tracey, Beverly and Adrienne. Byron was predeceased by his uncle and friend, Hector Logan. Byron grew up in South Haven and with respect for his wishes, his ashes will be buried in Harbourview Cemetery, South Haven, Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. “Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.” Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
