84, George’s River It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marguerite (Kavanagh) Jessome, Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Born in Scotch Lake, Nov. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sara (Walker) Kavanagh. She was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, Brad d’Or. She was a longtime resident of Bras d’Or, eventually moving to Johnson Road, George’s River. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Don) Dolinar and Cathy (Graham) Webb; her sons, John (Maureen), David (Paula), Ken (Frances), Lionel (Ann), James (Nancy), Donald (Becky) and Danny (Beverly). She is also survived by her sisters, Gervaise McKenna, Trixie (Kevin) Steele, Kathleen Sampson and Mary MacDonald; and her brother, John Joe (Ann) Kavanagh. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Peter Jessome, her brothers, Willie, Clarence, Ronald, Gerald, two brothers in infancy and her sister, Anna. In her early years, mom raised nine children and then began a successful career in real estate. She was blessed with 29 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Marguerite’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
