ALEXANDER (PRESCOTT), ALBERTA "BERT" - The passing of Alberta "Bert" (Prescott) Alexander, wife of the late Ralph L. Alexander, occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2007 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born on August 10, 1916 in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (McGowan) Chaffey. Alberta was a member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and was a longtime member of the Devon Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a housewife and also volunteered at York Manor. She loved spending time with her friends and family, loved country music and her cats. Alberta is survived by two sons, Harold Alexander of Fredericton, NB, Ronald D. and Anne Alexander of St. Catherine's, ON; grandchildren Alicia and Sarah Alexander of Fredericton, NB, Ronnie, Mary and Margaret of Saint John, NB, Lynn of Iowa, Billy of ON and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Alberta was predeceased by one daughter, Janet Lynch; two brothers and three sisters. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Tuesday, October 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2 pm with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. Interment will take place in the Gladstone Cemetery, Fredericton Junction, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
