68, New Waterford Mary Margaret Gillis, 68, of Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, passed away suddenly on May 8, 2008, in the manor. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Cormier) Gillis. Mary was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, St Agnes Church. In her early years, she was employed with MT&T. She loved playing cards and listening to traditional country music. Mary was known by all to be giving person. Surviving are brothers, Raymond (Helen), Kitchener, Ont., George (June), Cambridge, Ont., Daniel (Elenor), Micheal (Theresa), both of New Waterford; sisters, Shirley (Edward, deceased) Melski, Brantford, Ont., Tessy (Joey) White, Willena (Frank) Cameron, both of New Waterford, Anne (Tom, deceased) Moore, New Glasgow, Gerry (Peter) O’Connor, Pickering, Ont.; special niece, Tammy (Chris) Matthews and son, Noah, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a brother, Douglas, and a sister in infancy. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass celebrating Mary’s life will take place Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church. Cremation will follow with burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Following the mass, a luncheon will be held in the St. Agnes parish hall.
