June 6, 1911-May 8, 2008 Sydney Mines It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of John Peter Wilson, announce his passing on May 8, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Donkin, June 6, 1911, he was the son of the late John and Sarah (Howie) Wilson. He resided in Sydney Mines for over 80 years and worked for Devco until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines. Peter was an avid sports fan and played soccer and rugby in his younger years and enjoyed watching a good ball game. He is survived by his loving son, William (Jane), Sydney Mines; and his daughter, Moira, at home; his sister, Ruth Young, St. Catherines, Ont.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Normena ‘Dolly’, his brother, Clarence and his sisters, Clara, Drusilla, Anna and Kaitie. Visitation Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Hughie MacNeil officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
