EDWARD RAYE BROWN
BROWN, EDWARD RAYE - Peacefully at his residence at Pennfield NB on November 17, 2007, Mr. Edward Raye Brown, husband of the late Mrs. Olive (English) Brown. Born at Wilsons Beach, Campobello, NB on December 6, 1915, Raye was a son of the late Willie and Gertrude (Ludlow) Brown. A loving father, grandfather and uncle, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Bert) Anthony of Pennfield and Natalie (Morris) Harris of Blacks Harbour NB; four grandchildren, Andrew (Tammy) Anthony of Pennfield, Leigh-Ann (Kenneth) Richardson of Leonardville NB, Laura Harris (Jeff Tucker) of Musquash NB and Brent Harris of Sackville NB; three great grandchildren, Rachel Richardson, Emily and Oliva Tucker; one sister in law, Louise Calder; two nephews, Edmond (Doreen) Calder of Jemseg NB and David (Heather) English of Fredericton NB. Raye was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Squadron of the R.A.F. stationed at Point Doichin PQ, Halifax NS and Shediac NB. He was a past president and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 and past District Commander of St. Croix District. Raye was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing as well as skeet shooting and curling. He was a past president of the St. George and Brunswick Curling Clubs. Raye was also an active member of the Liberal Party. Prior to his retirement, Raye spent most of his working life around the water as a lighthouse keeper, working at Pea Point Light for a number of years, before going to work as Wharf Agent for Coastal Transport in Blacks Harbour NB. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating with interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home will take place on Monday from 7 to 9 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 6:30 pm. In Raye's memory donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
